The Amador Fire Protection District was formed in July, of 1990, to provide fire protection and emergency medical services to the communities of Pioneer, Willow Springs, Fiddletown, and River Pines. The district was organized as aDependent Special District and as such, the Amador County Board of Supervisors serve as our Board of Directors. One of the many benefits of this type of governance is the allowance for strict oversight and accountability. In subsequentyears, after seeing the value of merging resources, several other volunteer fire companies became part of the Amador Fire Protection District including Pine Grove, Pine Acres, Volcano, Drytown, City of Plymouth, and Lockwood.  

Today, Amador Fire has grown into a combination fire department made up of over 75 career and volunteer members operating out of 9 fire stations, staffing 7 engine companies, a water tender, and a shift Battalion Chief 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. In addition to our full-time staffing, we also maintain a robust roster of over 35 trained and equipped volunteer firefighters available to respond to emergencies and provide supplemental staffing when needed. Amador Fire proudly protects over 22,000 residents and we proudly serve the many communities within the 513 square miles that make up the fire protection district boundaries.
