Tom began his fire service career as a volunteer firefighter with the Lockwood Fire Protection District. During that time, he developed a passion for the fire service and decided to pursue a career as a full-time firefighter.

Tom was hired by Amador Fire and graduated from the Amador Fire Protection District Recruit Firefighter Academy 23-01 in May of 2023. He was assigned to fire station 116 as a career Firefighter and in 2025 promoted to Engineer, assigned to fire station 111.

Durning his time serving on an Engine Company Tom discovered a passion for fire prevention and recognized the opportunity to make an even greater impact by helping reduce emergencies before they occur. His interest in proactive fire safety led him to pursue the Fire Prevention Officer position in 2026.

Prevention Officer Tomlinson is committed to protecting the residents of Amador County through prevention, education, and emergency response. Prior to joining the fire service Tom worked in the trades and has an extensive background in building construction, electrical and operating heavy equipment.
