Residents Reducing Wildfire Risks

Firewise USA is a recognition program hosted by the National Fire Prevention Association (NFPA). Amador County has over 35 registered Firewise sites and that number is growing every day. Many neighborhoods in Amador County have taken part in addressing concerns on their property in regard to vegetation removal and maintenance (defensible space), preparing their homes to withstand damage caused by wildfire (home hardening), educating their neighbors about the risk of wildfire and how to prevent possible damage incurred, and offering preparation assistance to those in need.
